Super Mario Bros is a popular game series created by Nintendo. In this article, you will learn how to create your own Super Mario Bros game from scratch with a game engine
GameMaker 8 Pro / GameMaker Studio
GameMaker is a tool developed by the Dutch professor Mark Overmars. It was originally written in Delphi. It was later on purchased by YoYoGames. Opera took it over and they rebranded it to GameMaker Studio. Currently, version 2 is out. The original GameMaker focused on the amateur game developer. The current version focuses on the commercial game developer and is rewritten in C#, the programming language used by Microsoft. How will this tool help you develop Super Mario Bros? To begin with, there are beginner tutorials written by Michel Fiege. You can check his material out here. Everything he made, is made with the old version of GameMaker, which is unfortunately not more online. There is a crack version online. Wish you the best of luck to find it.
Another way to create your own version of Super Mario Bros is to download the Hello Mario Engine, an open source engine to create your own Mario games. You would have to modify the levels and the map. This requires a serious understanding of programming in Game Maker Language (GML) and level design. The best is to hire a level designer who is proficient in GameMaker 8 Pro on Fiverr. Also told this to Fiege, when talking about Mario but until today he has not responded to my mail.
Scratch
Scratch is a high level programming tool developed by MIT. You can create your own version of Super Mario Bros. It’s focused on kids between 8-16 years old. Have no tutorials listed on this website, because the purpose of this website is to learn people to create games with the tools adults and the pro’s use. It would be great for kids clubs. But I prefer GameMaker because it’s pretty easy to use.
Godot
Godot is a game engine used by the Surinamese gamestudio Tumsi Creative. Check how you could make your version of Super Mario with it:
Unity
